I was born and grew up in Yokohama, Japan. When I was 13, my father's work took my family to Argentina, then Paraguay and Brazil. I lived there for 5 years and was greatly influenced by Latin American culture. My interest in bead design began about 15 years ago, having found a book written by Janet Cole when I was visiting my daughters who were studying in London. I have been an interior designer for a long time prior to then. I enjoy creating things, especially when you can vary the style, proportions and colors. When I design the interior of houses, the most important decision is the basic color and style first and then add accents, colors and focal points well within the proportions of the overall interior. I approach bead craft with the same philosophy.
